Personal Commentary

When I think of my favorite works of all time for Dazai/Ranpo, regardless of position, necklace is always the first I think of. Their fic, 'the taller they stand, the harder they fall' came to the tag when there was less than 15 fics, if that! Even after ten whole years of being in the BSD fandom, when someone asks me for a rec, necklace is the first that comes to mind. I will forever be grateful for the amazing work they offered to the world. Every few weeks, I always go back to it and feel as enthusiastic as the first day I read it. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for the time you spent in the BSD fandom, necklace.

Personal Commentary

There is genuinely so much I can say about this work but I will try to restrain myself. I've been mutuals with Noe forever, and though they've long since departed from BSD, the fact they spent some of their time, effort, and beautiful wordsmithing on my otp is something I will always be grateful for. The fascinating nonlinear story-line, the constant strain on emotions, how the story delves into both Dazai and Ranpo's mindsets and actions... It's truly a work of pure mesmerizing art. There's no other word for it. It remains one of my strongest favorites to this day, and probably always will.

Personal Commentary

I don't even care if the wordcount is small. The fact that it can be a fic so memorable to me in spite of that speaks to the skill of the writer, in my opinion. One of my biggest weaknesses is fics that focus on the fact Ranpo knew Dazai was in the Mafia before, but chose to keep that secret for Dazai for two years until it eventually came out.

Dazai's skittishness that's so unlike him, attempting to not show any reaction when Ranpo references his mafia-inherited instincts, Dazai's aprehension that is all sealed beautifully with Ranpo acting with intent to ensure Dazai is included as a member of the ADA for celebration... It is truly so good.
